Participate in the Speakers Bureau

Are you interested in...

  • Speaking outside of your Club setting?

  • Speaking before a non-Toastmaster audience?

  • Giving longer speeches of your choice before an audience?

  • Representing Central Division Toastmasters in your schools,
    businesses and community?

Then, YOU need to join our SPEAKERS BUREAU!

What is the Speakers Bureau?

Members join a Toastmasters Speakers Bureau to turn their presentation skills into a showcase opportunity or to gain even more public speaking experience. The Speakers Bureau acts as a resource, helping organisations make contact with talented speakers and presenters who can fulfill their needs.

Membership Requirements

The Central Division Speakers Bureau is open to all District 73 Toastmasters who are Toastmasters in good standing and have achieved a minimum ATM B status. If you're comfortable speaking in your club and are ready for the next challenge - the Speaker's Bureau is for you!

If you don't meet the minimum requirement and you feel you ought to still be considered please tell us why in the Expression of Interest form.

Registration

Eligible Toastmasters are invited to complete the Expression of Interest form and submit it to the Public Relations Coordinator. Your application will be reviewed and you will be notified soon after.

As our web site develops there will be a procedure for inclusion of your photograph, contact details and brief biography to be inserted into an Index of Speakers.

Speakers Availability

It is the intention of Central Division to act only as a facilitator of speaking engagements. All communications will necessarily be between the client and the speaker. As the client is the final decision maker on who they wish to speak at their function Central Division cannot promise to find Speakers Bureau engagements for everyone. Nor will you be expected to accept more requests than you feel comfortable with.

Most speaking opportunities come through word of mouth. Others will come as a result of a Toastmaster's brochure or web site. As people see the high quality of your presentation - they will tell others

There are always rules!

Speakers Bureau members should understand that Toastmasters International is a non-profit organisation. By Toastmasters International Rules, our speakers cannot charge for speeches that are arranged for them through the Speakers Bureau. However, that does not preclude speakers accepting an honorarium or being compensated for travel or function expenses. We leave these arrangements entirely between the client and the Toastmaster.

If you are already a professional speaker, you are welcome to join us. You are free to charge for any engagement you didn't receive through the Speakers Bureau.

Members must agree not to sell their own personal products or services during their presentation. However, the fact that a speaker has such a business can be shared in their introduction if needed. Since one of the goals of the Speakers Bureau is to increase Toastmaster membership and the awareness of Toastmasters, each speaker should include a brief description of their Toastmaster affiliation within their introduction. A common sense approach is expected from our members which will be monitored, on occasion, by the Public Relations Coordinator.

As a matter of courtesy Central Division expects that you keep our Division informed, through the Public Relations Coordinator, of your speaking engagements and any feedback that has been offered. Testimonials or letters of appreciation from the client are encouraged and ought to be copied to our Division.
